"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds." - Bob Marley
The human brain is the most extraordinary thing ever discovered in the universe. Even the most complex and advanced computers of the 21st century are but pale reflections of the power that resides within us all. Yet most people will go a lifetime without ever coming close to realizing the potential of this amazing "technology."
We struggle with almost every aspect of trying to focus and direct our brains. The average human loses their attention span 6 to 8 times per minute. So how can you quiet your mind without needing to sit in silence for 20 minutes each day? How can you tap into your potential without being bored silly in the process? YEAH DAVE YOGA!
After graduating college, a buddy got me really into yoga and we loved it so much we decided to open a yoga studio. This wasn't any old yoga studio but a really modern presentation we called At One Yoga. The three studios in Arizona include plasma screens promoting upcoming events and the classes are inspired by mainstream grooves making the ancient practice a little more familiar.
Growing up loving the Grateful Dead who'd play a different set list at every show, I wanted to bring that sense of uniqueness to each of my yoga classes. So I put a musical spin on the yoga experience such that every time you show up, you'll hear a different playlist and a new and inspiring message. I call my style Yeah Dave Yoga. Imagine spirituality with a rock n' roll sensibility!
Yeah Dave Yoga has come a great distance since its inception. I taught the Power of Being Present at the 2005 Inc. 500 Conference. And with my great friend and head of Vosges Haut Chocolat, Katrina Markoff, I've created the Yoga and Chocolate Experience which teaches the incredibly enhanced sensation available exclusively in the present moment. Yoga and Chocolate was featured in THE NEW YORK TIMES, CBS NEWS, MARIE CLAIRE and the NIKKEI (Japanese Wall St. Journal.) A Yoga and Chocolate box set is now available from Vosges.
In addition to my blog, I will be exploring a host of topics like the aforementioned Yoga + Chocolate and new topics like Yoga + Country Music and Yoga + Sex, just to name a few. This ongoing series will provide tips for being more present, aware, and appreciative in the moment.
If you want to take one of my classes, I tour around the nation leading workshops, retreats and seminars and teach daily yoga classes at Exhale in Santa Monica, California.
My blog will focus on discovering health not only as working out the body but also as freeing the mind, opening the heart, and awakening the spirit. I will place great emphasis on creating and understanding "The Moment" -- those instances where mind, spirit, body, and senses converge to reveal incredible power and beauty.
